A 'Political' CIO Bares his Life
He lives in Gurgaon with his wife- Anu, and three-and-a-half years old son Bidyut. His parents continue to stay in his hometown- Jorhat in Assam. Anu is a fellow IIMite, and she works as a senior vice president with ASK, a wealth management company. "Unlike the corporate sector with its 5-day work a week culture, politics requires 24/7 availability. Therefore, one has to be much disciplined to keep aside some time for self and family," he says. Bora says "I am quite a home bird or, as my wife says- a holiday sloth." His idea of a perfect weekend is to pick up a pile of newspapers and magazines, or a nice book, and read throughout the day in bed, over multiple cups of tea. Being inquisitive in nature, Web searching for the latest IT trends- is his favorite pastime. "I also love to spend time with my son, take him for a walk or a spin in the car," says he. Bora doesn t tumble out of bed without having read the day's newspapers. "I am planning to join a gym, soon. I am realizing that my body needs some physical activity," says he. He usually reads stuff elated to history, politics and current affairs, and a bit of fiction. "I also count information technology as a hobby, and read a lot on technology and related topics," he says. "I love water, and therefore I find nothing better than sitting (or slothing ) by the seaside. One of my favorite holiday destinations is Goa. Occasionally, whenever we get tired of a particular spot, my wife and I hire a scooter and go exploring all over the place," Bora says. His favorite musician is- the Assamese singer and composer, Bhupen Hazarika. According to him, Hazarika s songs are a pure form of poetry. Also, he likes fusion music band- Indian Ocean. He likes biopic films, thrillers and action-packed movies, including- A Beautiful Mind, Cinderella Man and Patton. He sticks to Indian cuisine- both north Indian and south Indian. I cannot even make myself a cup of tea, forget about cooking. I have some strange phobia about the kitchen. I would rather go hungry than go and open the refrigerator, quips Bora. His inspiration is- extraordinary dedication and selflessness exhibited by ordinary people. "Within my party, I have quite a few examples of people who have dedicated their lives to public service," concludes Bora. |
