Aditya Auto Products & Engineering is an automobile parts manufacturer based out of Bangalore. It earns overall revenues of around $30 million p.a. and has over 366 employees spread across five locations in India (Bangalore-3 Plants, Haryana-1 Plant, Trichy-1 Plant)
Overview:
Aditya Auto had five non-integrated point ERP solutions across the five divisions. It wanted to achieve control of disparate data achieving real-time control by integrating major business processes. The company also wanted to improve decision making through better management and integration.
The company looked at SAP for financial accounting integration & standardization of key business processes in engineering, purchasing, costing and sales. Said Mihir Jayaraman, business unit head, (Delhi Division) of Aditya Auto Products and Engineering , "SAP was selected for its global record, standardized process mapping and the new product Business-All-in-One for its Fast Track approach & low implementation lead time."
Apart from SAP, some other products also considered were Oracle Financials, Tally ERP, and MFG-PRO.
The implementation process
The entire implementation process took 14 weeks, which is a global record for SAP implementation timeline using the Fast track approach. This included six weeks for the actual deployments as well as an eight week stabilization period.
The implementation process included:
* Focus on process excellence by conducting a detailed process mapping exercise covering all transactions and processes.
* Comprehensive change management program by standardizing business workflows across five different business units (which have strikingly different operations in terms of product mix, customer portfolios, process flow and purchasing modes)
* Changing the working methodology from legacy approach to standardized work flow-based processes was the challenge
The benefits
Aditya Auto was able to improve its decision making via access to real time information. We gained better visibility and control of inventory, production, material flow, and accounting transactions as well as improved financial control across plants," said Jayaraman.
Automotive specific workflows like consignment stocking, subcontracting, tool amortization, etc. can also now be mapped by the company's IT department.
Future plans
After the success of the SAP deployment, Aditya Auto is considering deploying a PLM solution across its plants.
