Janatics Adopts Oracle Applications
By Priyanka Akhouri
Mumbai, Jun 18, 2008

Janatics India, headquatered at Coimbatore, was incorporated in the year 1977 and is in the business of pneumatics manufacturing. The company has a manufacturing facility at Kurichi, Coimbatore, 7 marketing offices in India, and a liaison office in the United States. The company operates through its 50 strong dealer network in India with 1000+ customers and having employee strength of 250 appoximately.

The Department of Science & Technology and government of India have approved the research and development division of Janatics. Also Janatics is recognized and selected by CPI (Center for Promotion of Imports from developing countries) of the Government of Netherlands to participate in Hannover fair, Germany. Presently Janatics exports to over 15 countries, which includes UK, USA, Mexico, Germany, Italy, and actively participate in International trade fairs.

Need for a Solution:

The pneumatic market is currently valued at Rs. 500 crore in India and Rs. 30000 crore worldwide. Janatics wanted to attain a market leadership position not only in India but also globally, which in turn required an ERP system of global standards in place.

It was using an in-house developed integrated FoxPro. Since the legacy system material accounting was not integrated to the finance department, the company was facing a number of issues. Janatics needed a solution for the tight integration of money, material, and for the number of outsourced labor activities carried. The company was in search of an ERP solution that was easy to manage and ensures scalability. It also required implementing an efficient solution catering to its growth and multi-location operations.

Solution:

Janatics had an IBM 236 server, which was centrally deployed and connected to their branches using VPN. As its in-house developed FoxPro software technology was old and was getting difficult to maintain, Janatics opted for Oracle Applications as the solution best suited to meet its requirements.

R. Ramesh, AGM (marketing) of Janatics India stated, "Prior to deciding onto Oracle, we evaluated the solutions offered by other vendors including SAP. However, we found that Oracle was much simpler to manage when compared to SAP, because for SAP we required ABAP programmers, which was an expensive proposition. This along with the pre-sales efforts of the Oracle team made us choose Oracle."

Benefits:

The Oracle E-Business Suite deployed by Janatics has gone live on the manufacturing, distribution, and finance modules of the solution. It's an integrated ERP solution, which gives complete end-to-end integrity on procure to pay, order to cash, and design to manufacture cycles for Janatics. The solution is easy to manage, ensures scalability, and enables Janatics to meet the requirements for its growth and multi-location operations.

The solution provides financial integration across all its business areas. It also enables better visibility and control over the inventory and MIS reports.

About the Deal:

"We started the implementation process in December 2006 and went live on July 1, 2007. The implementation was done by L&T Infotech," added Ramesh.

The implementation was completed in just 6 months. However, post implementation the compnay faced a few minor issues, which were effectively addressed by the Oracle Metalink support.

Future Plans:

Looking ahead, the company further plans to deploy and adopt CRM solutions and advance supply chain solutions. "In 2008-09, we are planning to establish a multi-location manufacturing and distribution network. This will require integration of our dealer sales management on the supply side and integration of our vendor operations on the procurement side," commented Ramesh.

Congragulations. In addition to your future plans on CRM & supply chain, please add Employee Counselling too, because your company's employees seem to be poor on their personal life, and this does affect the company.
