Tata Elxsi Licenses RoS-ES for TranSwitch Corp.

TranSwitch Corporation, a provider of broadband access solutions for the consumer, enterprise and service provider markets, has licensed Tata Elxsi s Real-Time Operating System for Embedded System (RoS-ES) operating system (OS) for its Atlanta 2000 family of communications processors which are optimized for Gigabit-rate packet processing applications. Tata Exlsi is the product design arm of the Tata group.
These applications include secure broadband gateways, SSL/TLS and IPSec acceleration, and micro-PBX.
TranSwitch selected RoS-ES as the OS for A2000 s fast path processor for broadband gateway router applications due to its high performance, small footprint, powerful options, and configurability. "The proficiency of Tata Elxsi's technical team and their familiarity with Tensilica processors was an important consideration in making our choice," said Bill McDonald, director of CPE product marketing at TranSwitch Corporation.
Tata Elxsi, an embedded product design and engineering company, today announced the launch of its embedded operating system (RoS-ES). The product is targeted at the expanding set of applications for embedded processors.
RoS-ES is available on ARM and Xtensa/Tensilica platforms targeting network equipment, automotive, consumer electronics markets, the company said in a statement. The Tata Elxsi business model provides its customers with a powerful combination of royalty-free software, flexible support options, and product design and engineering services, said Ram Mohan, head of IP Sales and Business Development.
