Aventail, the SSL VPN company has announced an updated version of its Aventail Mobile solution for personal digital assistants (PDA) and smart phones.
Aventail Mobile 2 extends key features such as roaming, which enables users to move between wireless networks without losing the VPN connection, and device watermarking, giving administrators the ability to both classify a managed device and disable access from the device if lost or stolen.
Aventail enables fast and easy access from any Web-enabled phone, including Windows Mobile PDAs and smart phones, Symbian smart phones, DoCoMo iMode devices, and any WAP2.0-enabled device.
The updated solution provides complete security and control of mobile device access to critical network resources from any wireless network environment. It provides the same granular access control for all mobile devices, as well as for Linux, Macintosh and Windows systems. For administrators, it is part of Aventail's Unified Policy model, which provides centralized management for all users, devices, and resources.
Aventail Mobile also optimizes the application content on each mobile device, so a user automatically receives access only to those applications that are appropriate for their device, rather than being shown links that would not work or are not optimized for a mobile device.
Aventail Mobile 2 will be available by Q3 2006.
