Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) has selected the Tekelec EAGLE 5 Integrated Signaling System (ISS) solution to support its transition to next-generation networks. The solution is provided by Tekelecis - a developer of network applications for fixed, mobile, and packet networks.
The solution will provide BSNL with a separate signaling plane, which utilizes IP-based connectivity and centralized control and routing to connect its varied, highly dispersed signaling end points. With this deal, the company's extending its relationship with Tekelec for traditional Signaling System 7 (SS7) signaling solutions, initiated in 2005.
Through this deployment, BSNL will incorporate a homogeneous SS7 core network, which is independent of the service or the technology used in the network. It'll provide future proof platform supporting applications such as portability, integrated monitoring, and routing optimization for Home Local Registers (HLRs) and voicemail servers.
BSNL received this deal through a Tekelec local reseller - ITI. The latter is in charge of the project implementation. The project aims to expand the existing deployment of 10 EAGLE 5 ISS nodes to 14 nodes.
