Bihar to Announce an IT Policy
By CXOtoday Staff
Mumbai, Jul 21, 2008
Bihar will soon announce its IT policy. The policy which is in the final stages of being drafted, will first have to be cleared by the cabinet ministers of the Bihar government.
The state government put the draft IT Policy 2008 on its official website earlier this year for suggestions and comments.
The thrust of new IT policy is to attract national and multinational IT companies to invest in the state. The policy is aimed at setting up world class IT infrastructure and connectivity for e-governance. It will also facilitate setting up of broadband digital networks and encourage National Long Distance Operators (NLDOs) to build robust fiber optic network in the state.
The state government is also planning to host a national level IT convention to lure corporate houses to invest in Bihar.
State-owned Bihar State Electronics Development Corporation Limited (Beltron) on Friday signed an agreement with Tally (India) Pvt Ltd. It is also setting up Bihar Knowledge Centre, where leading IT companies including Intel, Oracle, Microsoft and Tally would partner with the government to train students.
