Highly experienced professionals who have had a significant management, advisory, and/or assurance role in the governance of information technology can apply for ISACA's new Certified in the Governance of Enterprise IT (CGEIT) credential under the grandfathering provision until 31 October, 2008.
The provision enables highly experienced professionals to obtain the CGEIT designation without taking the CGEIT examination.
The CGEIT certification program recognizes those who have the professional knowledge, personal skills, and business experience to maximize IT's contribution made by to an enterprise's success, and manage and mitigate risks posed by IT.
According to Howard Nicholson, CISA, business analyst of the City of Salisbury and chair of the CGEIT Certification Board, the CGEIT certification adds value to the enterprises the professionals support, as the designation demonstrates a visible commitment to excellence in IT governance practices.
To earn the CGEIT designation during the grandfathering provision, applicants are required to:
1. Submit evidence of appropriate work experience.
2. Agree to adhere to the ISACA Code of Professional Ethics.
3. Agree to comply with the CGEIT Continuing Professional Education Policy.
Applicants must also obtain an ISACA identification number. They need to submit the CGEIT application form and pay an application fee as well.
