Compuware Intros Risk Mgt; Combines with LogicaCMG
By CXOtoday Staff
Mumbai, Apr 4, 2007
Compuware Corporation today introduced Compuware Vantage 10, a sophisticated service-management solution that enables IT organizations to manage application service from a business perspective.
The solution integrates comprehensive end-user experience monitoring with deep Java and .NET application analytics, as well as business impact metrics, enabling business-driven problem prioritization and resolution, and systematic improvement of service delivery.
Integration to detailed application analytics provides visibility into the performance of application servers for web and SOA applications through instrumentation of application platforms and packaged applications. This increases IT's ability to deliver service excellence, responsive problem resolution and increase cross-silo collaboration.
"IT organizations lack visibility into the impact the Java and .NET tiers have on end-user experience. As web-based applications become more mission critical and complex, IT requires an end-to-end view of end-user response time and the application metrics that contribute to service delivery," said Steve Tack, Director of Product Management, Compuware Corporation. "Compuware Vantage's full spectrum of end-user experience monitoring coupled with both the Java and .NET analytics provides customers a solution that is unique in the industry. This release provides the foundation for Compuware's integrated solution with the recently acquired Proxima Technology Centauri, which will be released in the next quarter."
Compuware Vantage also monitors VoIP as a network-based application in the context of other applications competing for network resources. It provides management-level reports that display overall health of VoIP service, including number of degraded calls. Further drill-down provides additional VoIP and network metrics to assist with problem resolution and trend analysis.
In an unrelated development, LogicaCMG has combined Compuware's expertise in risk- and requirement-based testing for software quality assurance to develop enterprise QA solutions to create a 360 solution named Q-Talk.
Q-Talk will help IT departments effectively communicate the importance, business impact and return on investment of software testing to business unit customers. Additionally, Q-Talk will reduce time-to-delivery while mitigating project risk and increasing software quality.
"IT organizations often experience difficulties working with business units to define and prioritize test requirements," said Anton Martens, director of testing, international lines of business, LogicaCMG. "LogicaCMG addresses this issue by creating solutions that help IT departments communicate more effectively with non-technical business users. This allows them to quickly identify and manage the testing requirements with the greatest business risks. Instead of having an overview of the test cases and their related requirements that are executed, business users prefer to have an overview of the risks that are covered. This requires testers to combine requirement-based testing with risk-based testing."
He added, "Another challenge we often face is the fact that the software used by business analysts and requirement engineers to manage the requirements is not directly integrated with the QA software used by the test team, adding complexity to a project. Q-Talk provides robust integration, enabling all assets created for requirements through automated testing to be easily traced and leveraged through a project. It also simplifies reporting on the status of the risks covered and tested."
Stated Jamie McGuffie, Compuware Senior Vice President, Partner Business Development. "The automated solution developed with LogicaCMG provides customers with the concise status of every identified risk at any point in the QA testing process."
This collaboration between LogicaCMG and Compuware will help both companies' customers gain better control and visibility throughout the development life cycle while improving quality.
It may be recalled that a couple of months back, Compuware introduced a new quality assurance solution, Compuware Quality Management. It enables QA organizations deliver higher-quality applications by arming them with tools needed to implement and monitor quality process. The solution helps organizations progressively mature and manage quality across the life cycle, accelerating the path to Quality Governance.
