• Customs, Central Excise get Automated Filing

  • The directorate general of systems (Customs & Central Excise) will soon introduce a scheme for Certified Filing Centers (CFCs) for automated customs, excise and service tax (ACES) e-governance programme for e-filing similar to MCA-21 project.

    Uttam Prakash Agarwal, president (ICAI) who yesterday met the DG (systems) confirmed that an in-principle permission has been granted to set up facilitation centers/physical front offices pan India.

    Beginning this month, the project will be rolled out in a phased manner. The activities would cover online registration, e-f-Filing of returns, formats of various returns, online refunds and appeals. "Opportunity will also be provided to the ICAI & its regional councils/ branches to create required facilities for this purpose," Agarwal said.

    Agarwal said that more details of the scheme and registration process as will be announced shortly. "They are currently under finalization with the directorate general of systems (Customs & Central Excise). The launch date would also be announced then."
