  • Delhi-based real estate major DLF Universal Ltd. has opted for Ramco Enterprise Series suite of Applications.

Built on Ramco VirtualWorks, the ERP solution consists of finance, demand fulfillment, procurement, inventory, HRMS and maintenance functions. In addition, the company will also deploy a few custom-made components that are specific to the real estate business.

Costing approximately Rs 2.5 crores, the solution will be implemented in two phases. The first phase covering the back office, financial, procurement and inventory modules is expected to be completed by October 2006, while the second phase, set to go live by the year end, will see the completion of the industry-specific leasing, services, billing and broker management solutions.

This new deployment will replace the company's current Oracle Financial package and a bunch of in-house applications. It went for this implementation because of the need to integrate its existing processes and to keep up with its financial growth.

"With a vision to become one of the largest end-to-end real estate player in the world, we felt the enormous need for technology-enabled informed decision making at all strategic levels," said Ramesh Sanka, Group CFO, DLF Universal Ltd.

DLF had also evaluated offerings from Wipro and PCS before finalizing on Ramco. The company had only considered Indian ERP vendors because it believes that they offer better implementation and post-implementation services.

we have been evaluating a TOTAL solution for real eastate and found that IN4Velocity Systems is the only organization which has a product with all related processes and functionalities, Pinga just has Sales, SAP is not har core real estate and too expensive, Cannix is just sales and Gamut also is just Sales module. And In4 has maximum number of installation acorss india and abroad. would suggest all to look at them once. its value for money.

I think, In4suite RE is the best in the Real Estate ERPs, thir Engineering module and connectivity with Tally is fantastic. The kind of MIS they have is great.

In 4 Velocity thrown out of Spaze Group Gurgaon (prestigious real estate company) after more then one year of implementation saying it is completely useless after paying more then 20 lacs total loss of time and money.

Rajeev, you know Spaze Group - bunch of crooks who don't pay. The system was "turned off" not that they were thrown out - due to non-payment of dues. It was going well until a certain person in finance came in to "make money".

Until now it didn't, but Ramco Systems has done a good deal in DLF Ltd. It has developed its Real Estate Solutions module as a part of the customization and doing good.
  • by Sandy on Aug 21, 2006 09:54 PM
Strange that DLF did not even evaluate vendors who have actually got a solution for Real Estate before finalizing on Ramco who doesn't have any solution for Real Estate industry. As per my market knowledge Ramco has never ever done any implementation for Real Estate and Construction industry infact their solution is not even prefered by manufacturing companies these days.

You may have to visit Ramco's website and reach them for more information on the product. As far as I know, their application very well fits into Tier-1 and competes with the well known names. Better be a professional and have a healthy message correspondence at this site. There are serious readers here.

how Secure is DLF network . What about Remote access to the ERP
  • Re:
by Sunil on Aug 02, 2006 11:35 PM
DLF can go for a SSL VPN solution, primaraly with those vendors who have been doing on going ERP implementaion with Ramco. Premier solution provider vfortress can be of some great support in this case.

Oracle is scrapped and it supports the statement that ERP's like Oracle and SAP can be very rigid to change with the company's changing requirements.Oracle is OFF and it is time for more user friendly softwares from Microsoft, Ramco being one of them.

  • by Rinku on Jul 27, 2006 12:03 PM
evalating Ramco with Bespoke application from PCS & wipro will not give them the right result. Its not a competitive deal. Its Incomplete evaluation.
  • by Rinku on Jul 27, 2006 12:01 PM
DLF must have called Application leader SAP also for the evluation and should have taken a call.SAP has a verycomprehensive construction & Real Estate solution. They have big focus on this vertical in India.DLF should rethink about the decision because Its a marriage.
  • by chanakya on Jul 26, 2006 11:56 AM
erp, unless customised, could be a very very disheartening experience. Both ends have to co-ordinate thoroughly well to maximize the fruits of an erp.
  • by Alan Smith on Jul 26, 2006 09:56 AM
Of course !!! Major construction firms like HCC, IVCRL have adopted ERP's of leading global vendors. Quite surprising, why DLF has not even considered them ???. Anyways, this is Ramco's first site in India in the construction Industry and we wish Ramco and DLF all the very best in their endeavour...

It is a feather in the cap for Ramco who has baged the order of DLF who is one of the biggest real estate owner in Delhi. Congratulations Ramco. It has been a very wise decesion taken by the CEO of the DLF considering only the Indian based company for implementing ERP for getting a better and cost effective solution from a local ERP vendor. Generally company tend to forget post implementation cost and support of any ERP implementation wjhich plays a very vital fact in the business operation of the company with ERP. I wish DLF all the success and supporting in selecting the correct vendor for their ERP.
