Drive Performance at Light Speed
By CXOtoday Staff
Mumbai, Mar 11, 2008
The Cheetah 15K.6 drive is available in a 3.5-inch form factor, with a 28% increase in sustained data transfer rates compared to previous generations. OEM system builders, including HP are working to design in the new Cheetah series hard drive, equipped with its leading Fiber Channel interface for HP's SAN storage systems.
Cheetah 15K.6 is said to fulfill the needs of running mission-critical business applications effectively. The enhancement in performance, reliability, power savings and capacity will collectively help enable its EVA systems to deliver greater overall value to the customers.
The Cheetah 15K.6 drive also plans to ship in Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) soon in India. Using second-generation perpendicular recording technology and available in capacities of 450GB, 300GB, and 147GB, the Cheetah 15K.6 drive provides an unprecedented blend of storage capacity and performance.
Seagate Technology is likely to launch its latest 15K.6 hard drive called Cheetah sometime during this month.
