  • The move is a part of the company's global sourcing strategy, which will enable it to reduce costs, increase competitiveness and widen its industrial reach.

Currently EADS spends about Euros 2 billion per year on engineering services, which includes research, modelling, flight physics and aircraft design. The consolidated supplier base, which covers the entire EADS Group, will lead to significant cost reductions, a press release said. The release added that HCL Technologies (HCL) will provide the services to EADS.

HCL will provide the services via EADS' Indian Design Centre in Bangalore. Rajeev Sawhney, President Europe, HCL Technologies, said, "This is an example of the growing strategic relationship between the aerospace industry and India."
