ERP to Aid Hiranandani Group's Expansion
By Tabrez Khan
Mumbai, Sep 04, 2008 1527 hrs IST

The group is only the second among the entire construction industry to deploy an ERP solution. The Raheja Group pioneered the use of ERP in the real estate sector.

Joseph Martin, general manager-IT at the Hiranandani Group said that the group is on the verge of expansion and wanted its IT architecture to cope with the process. We wanted seamless integration of projects, logistics and finance across cities and better control on project and cost. We were looking at standardized business processes and an enhanced support system across projects in all cities.

Headquartered in Mumbai, the group has branch offices in eight cities, and has plans to open new offices at Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune, Panvel, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and Nashik.

Martin said that the group was looking for an ERP solution that would connect all its site offices to the Mumbai office, provide real time information, enable cost estimation before the project is implemented, take into account cost escalation and arrive at various revenue scenarios.

It finally opted for the SAP ERP ECC 6.0 on the HP Integrity servers and storage.

Installed at total cost of Rs 6.5 crore, the solution currently has a capacity of 2700 SAPs, and has an ability to scale upto 5400 SAPs. 300 employees will have immediate access to the ERP solution, and the number of users is expected to double in the next three years, Martin said.

This solution will take care of material management, project scheduling, Document Management System (DMS), financial and control, plant maintenance, flexible real estate, sales and distribution and BI needs.
