Enhanced Security Tool for Email Threats
By CXOtoday Staff
Mumbai, Mar 18, 2008
The new version of Secure Mail (formerly known as IronMail), an integrated messaging security solution, is capable of processing more than 7 million unique messages per day on a single appliance, claims Secure Computing. The company's Secure Mail solution is focused on protecting mail environments, enforcing critical mail flow, compliance-related policies and encrypting sensitive email materials. According to the company, the new version will result in a price performance improvement of up to 700%.
According to the company, enhancements to Secure Mail ensures effective handling of the large targeted mail surges - typical of today's Web 2.0 threat environment. It will benefit customers from deployment flexibility and receive a cost effective, single platform solution that delivers both inbound and outbound email security.
The product is expected to leverage Secure Computing's reputation system, known as TrustedSource. Like a credit agency provides credit scores to enable reliable commerce, TrustedSource is a reputation system to provide real-time multi-dimensional reputation scores for URLs, domains, images, messages, and IP addresses. According to a Secure Computing's communiqu , combining TrustedSource with several advanced spam filtering technologies deployed within the solution - allows Secure Mail to routinely block more than 99% of malicious spam email traffic, while maintaining a false positive rate of less than one in one million.
Also, the communique conveys that the new version of Secure Mail provides enhanced threat visibility and reporting that gives IT managers a clearer picture of attacks and defense effectiveness. Since Secure Mail with TrustedSource rejects up to 85 per cent of incoming messages before they are received, archiving requirements are reduced by this same percentage.
On the occasion of release of Secure Mail's latest version, Curtis Ide, vice president and general manager (messaging security) of Secure Computing, said, "Secure Mail has always been known as the most feature-rich and complete email security solution on the market. With this release, Secure Mail now also delivers our customers with levels of price performance, ease of deployment and threat visibility that are simply unmatched."
