GE Healthcare has unveiled its first fully digital Tejas DR-F X-ray system in India which will cost 40% less than the imported ones, said the company. Besides reducing the radiation significantly, the digital X-ray machine would work faster and more accurately than conventional analogue machines also.
"We will start commercially producing the machines by April in Bangalore and hope to market the product mid-2009," said V. Raja, president and chief executive of GE Healthcare (South Asia).
It has invested about $10-million (approximately 48, 66,03,783 crores) in the manufacturing capability of Tejas analog and digital X-ray machines. GE is also planning to launch mobile X-ray machines shortly.
The company will export Tejas to Southeast Asia, Latin America, Russia, Eastern Europe, and Africa as well.
