Genpact-NIIT Announce New Institute for BTSI

Genpact, a business process management company, and NIIT, a global talent development enterprise announced the launch of a joint venture NIIT Institute of Process Excellence.
NIIT Institute of Process Excellence is designed for aspiring students to build sustainable careers in the growing business and technology services industry. The new venture aims to address the demand for skilled workers in the same industry by providing training programs in relevant areas.
About the institute, Rajendra S. Pawar, chairman of NIIT said, "Our new initiative will build a pool of 'global professionals' to fuel the growth of the ITES industry."
Initially, it will offer training programs in areas such as business processes, language skills, and business communication. Also it intends to add more offerings in other areas including finance and accounting, banking, insurance and supply chain. The course includes 3 months of classroom training followed by 1 month internship in an ITES company.
On this occasion, Pramod Bhasin, vice chairman of NASSCOM said, "This is a significant milestone that we believe will benefit not only Genpact, but the entire business and technology services industry. Genpact and NIIT are committed to building a world class training organization that will focus on developing talent and increasing employability to meet the growing demand for a skilled workforce in the countries where we operate."
The institute aims to offer a solution to the BITS growing need for a large talent pool skilled in business process knowledge.
Sharing details about the training facilities, Vijay K. Thadani, CEO of NIIT said, "NIIT Institute of Process Excellence training programs will be offered to students through our state-of-the-art learning centers in key metros, mini metros and tier II towns in India, followed by China and the Philippines".
In past the industry has focused on voice-based processes and is now shifting focus to business processing functions. This shift is leading to a strong demand for professionals with relevant knowledge in addition to voice capabilities.
NASSCOM estimates that the Indian business process outsourcing or BPO industry provided direct employment to 704,000 professionals in FY 2007-08, and is projected to generate an additional 1.4 million jobs by 2010.
Genpact and NIIT will combine their respective strengths to offer the industry's most broad training curriculum for existing and potential employees of business services and technology companies.
In addition, Genpact will also provide industry-specific knowledge as well as internship, and job opportunities to students. While, NIIT will complement this with its expertise in learning content development, training delivery, and its capabilities in education process management.
In the 1st year of operations, training facilities will come up in Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Mumbai and Pune. And in the next phase, Chinese cities of Dalian, Changchun, Shanghai and Xian, and Manila in Philippines will have similar training facilities. Genpact and NIIT expect the new institute to have over 250 learning centers by 2012.
