Global Alliance to Develop Talent for BIT

The Global Talent Development Corporation NIIT and SAS Institute, the provider of business analytics software and services have aligned to build a talent pool in the field of Business Intelligence Technologies (BIT) world wide. The duo companies will work together to offer specialized BIT training program for students and professionals across 34 countries.

According to the press release, with the new tie-up, NIIT will offer a course on Business Intelligence (BI) in India, utilizing SAS software and technologies. This course will be offered under the IT career program GNIIT for undergraduates and Advance Technology portfolio for engineers, graduates and IT professionals across the NIIT's network of IT education centers from August 2008.

The program will introduce students to technologies like analytics, programming, dashboards, data mining and warehousing under the business systems and information management (BSIM) track, the release said.


Announcing the new initiative, Vijay K Thandani, CEO of NIIT said, "Business Intelligence has opened exciting career opportunities for youth around the world. NIIT will address the rising global talent shortage in this area through our alliance with world leader in BI technologies-SAS."

"Business Intelligence market in India is demonstrating robust growth as BI today has become a strategic imperative for organizations across industries," said Sudipta K Sen, CEO and managing director, SAS Institute India.

"Demand for trained manpower on BI Skills is keeping pace with the BI market growth rates. SAS has been playing pivotal role in bridging this demand through our training initiatives. Our association with NIIT is a significant step in this direction and we believe this alliance would help us in crating quality trained BI specialists who can help organizations in rightly leveraging power of Business Intelligence and analytics," added Sen.

According to IDC's India Business Intelligence Market Program 2007, the Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing and associated software market stood at 80 million USD in 2007 and expected to touch 265 million USD by 2012, growing at a 27% CAGR for the period 2007-2012. The services market around Business Intelligence, Data Warehousing and associated software market stood at 25 million USD in 2007 and expected to reach 450 million USD by 2012, growing at 78% CAGR for the period 2007-2012.
