  • Global internet giant Google is reportedly considering to bid for upcoming WiMAX spectrum in India. The search engine may not bid directly for the spectrum, but partner with a Indian company as technology partner to bid for third generation wireless license.

WiMAX is considered to be a viable proposition for new entrants who have to erect new infrastructure right from scratch.

The Department of Telecom (DoT) has allowed foreign firms to participate in the auction process in its information memorandum, released recently.

DoT is expected to auction the radio spectrum for 3G and Wireless broadband in January 2010.
