• IBM and Cisco Offer Crisis Management Services

  • IBM and Cisco will partner to provide emergency crisis response capabilities. The services are a part of a comprehensive portfolio of offerings from IBM Business Continuity and Resiliency Services is available now.

    These include advanced communications, collaboration and coordination technologies, and satellite and wireless capabilities. They open, modular, wireless and standard based commercial platform while preserving the integrity and security of the companies.

    The services are designed to provide continuity of operations, network operability and recovery, IP based interoperable communications, secure cross organization and information sharing capabilities, incident management and decision support tools, tactical operations, command and control operations and adaptive infrastructure based on leading middleware.

    "This exciting new relationship with Cisco represents the state of the art approach in helping our clients protect and improve their business operations by providing the industry's only true end to end crisis response solution," said Philippe Jarre, VP, IBM Business Continuity and Resiliency Services.

    The service begins with requirement gathering and assessment followed by solution process based on resilient, repeatable and modular building blocks. The components of the service are multiple, automated and intelligent response management enabled by Service Oriented Architecture (SOA). Experience from both the companies will help businesses, governments and organizations prepare, respond and rapidly recover from disruptive and challenging events.

Cisco and IBM have created this service to dramatically change these and recover from being an afterthought to an essential business imperative that will greatly enhance recovery efforts," said Joe Pinto, Sr. VP, Technical Services, Cisco.

    The platforms that are available include tactical communication kit for rapid deployment, fog cutter delivering deployed, scalable core and extended voice, data and video interoperability, network emergency response vehicle providing medium scale network, communications and information services and network emergency response vehicle delivering large scale network. These allow customers to leverage their existing assets, devices and investments.
