IBM s new Informix database software allows warehousing of data and conduct ultra-fast online transactions using simplified software platform. The new platform claims to deliver new results and insights to grow businesses and lower costs by making existing Informix infrastructure more easier and thus increase efficiency
IBM Informix Dynamic Server (IDS), a strategic element of IBM's Information Management software portfolio, will include database management software that delivers fast OLTP performance, high reliability and low cost administration.
The application can be used in businesses such as retail, telecommunications, government/public sector, and travel and entertainment. The new setup will allow retailers easily access and organize data from store, web, catalog sales and internal inventory to help analyze future buying trends to enable clients make better business decisions, said a company release.
85% of CIOs do not believe their information is currently well-managed and shared across the entire business, and companies are now recognizing the need to use information more effectively, the release stated.
"Today, the volume of information is growing exponentially from a variety of different sources, and we are seeing a growing number of clients who need to manage the velocity of decision-making required to be competitive, and the nature of what can be analyzed to predict new business opportunities," said Arvind Krishna, VP of IBM Worldwide.
