According to B V Iyer, president of IIMM, "There is a huge demand for material management and Supply Chain Management (SCM) professionals. And this move will help professionals engaged in developing material management solutions."
Iyer said it would not be a detailed course and modules would be offered to help IT companies to give inhouse training.
IIMM is also looking at obtaining chartership acknowledgment from the government to put them at par with the Institute of Secretaries and the Institute of Costs and Works.
