Chipmaker Intel's recent partnership with smartphone leader Nokia to enter the mobile phone market has left many unanswered questions with the two companies revealing very little about the details of the project.
Speaking at a news conference in Helsinki on Thursday, Craig Barrett, former chief executive and chairman of Intel Corp, however, revealed that it would take a few years to see if Intel's partnership with Nokia succeeds. "We will have to wait a few years to see if the deal is successful," he said.
Intel and Nokia have, however, said that they want to create a "new class of devices" that goes beyond the current smartphones, laptops, and netbooks and uses Linux software to create on open platform.
The mobile phone market is expected to grow far more rapidly than the PC market over the next decade.
