Intoto Launches IPS for SMEs
By CXOtoday Staff
Mumbai, May 22, 2007
Intoto, a provider of security software for enterprise networking equipment and Customer Premises Equipment (CPE) gateways, has announced the beta release of IntruPro IPS, an intrusion prevention system.
Through IntruPro IPS, channel partners and IT managers can create a robust, enterprise-ready security device, free of cost, using off-the-shelf x86 server hardware, suitable for any small to midsized enterprise.
Sathyan Iyengar, CEO, Intoto, said, "With IntruPro IPS, SMEs can now receive from Intoto and its partners the same level of security, functionality and performance as the offerings we deliver for many of the world's largest enterprises, with implementation savings of 80 percent or more compared to other IPS solutions."
IntruPro IPS is designed to prevent an intruder from taking advantage of vulnerabilities in a computer system or network. Also, individuals within the enterprise can be prevented from exploiting existing vulnerabilities in the network. IntruPro IPS uses multiple detection methods including signature detection, protocol anomaly and traffic anomaly. It monitors the network traffic, alerts administrators of any suspicious activity and prevents attacks.
IntruPro can also identify bandwidth intensive applications such as P2P and IM. Administrators are enabled to control bandwidth usage by these applications, so that bandwidth is saved for critical applications.
This product can plug into the network without any changes to the network configuration, either in-front of or behind an existing firewall.
Providing details the release from the company elaborates that IntruPro IPS is able to drop malicious packets before they reach the target destination, as soon as an attack is detected. For this it uses a proprietary, application-aware architecture leveraging both signature based techniques and anomaly based detection.
IntruPro IPS beta will be available in 30 days as a free, ready-to-deploy software product for download from the company s website. Intoto and its network of partners will provide yearly signature updates at $1,000 per year per installation.
