  • Juniper Networks, Inc. have added three new appliance lines to the Secure Services Gateway (SSG) family of branch office security products. The new SSG 5, SSG 20 and SSG 140 collectively bring nine new SSG models, each with the same powerful set of proven security features and robust routing capabilities.

The SSG 5 and SSG 20 are targeted at small branch offices and tele-commuter environments while the SSG 140 is ideally suited for medium-sized branch offices, and stand alone businesses.

"The new SSG product line, offered by Juniper Networks, appears to be a advanced in combining a leading security device platform with
popular WAN capabilities. The new UTM products, which provide strong multi-function security including IPS, AV, Web Filtering, and SPAM, raise the price/performance bar to address intensive security
processing and broadband WAN links without the need for an external
router," said Charles Kolodgy, research director at IDC.

SSG 5 and 20 platforms deliver 160 Mbps of Stateful FW traffic and
40 Mbps of IPSec VPN throughput. SSG 140 platforms deliver more
than 350 Mbps of FW traffic and 100 Mbps of IPSec VPN. Using Juniper's trusted ScreenOS 5.4 operating system, the SSG family delivers a complete set of best-in-class integrated UTM security features including intrusion prevention, antivirus (includes Anti-Spyware, Anti-Adware, Anti-Phishing), anti-spam and web filtering to protect traffic. These can be deployed as stand alone protection features.

The family's WAN I/O options deliver improved connectivity options for extended investment protection and the ability to consolidate security, and routing devices at the branch office.

"As enterprises continue to become increasingly distributed, they face growing security challenges that are most effectively addressed by a best-in-class portfolio of integrated security solutions," said Matt Kolon, CTO, Juniper Networks' for Asia Pacific. "With the SSG Family, Juniper is reaffirming its security market leadership and setting the industry benchmark in the distributed enterprise with better price performance for processing intensive security applications, and offering the widest range of WAN connectivity options in the branch office FW market."

The Juniper Networks Secure Services Gateway 5 and 20 appliances are
currently available through its global network of reseller partners.
Indicative pricing starts at $700 for the SSG 5 and $900 for the SSG 20.The SSG 140 is expected to be available in Q4 2006. Additional
subscription fees apply to enable integrated Antivirus, Anti-Spam, Web Filtering, and Intrusion Prevention capabilities.
