LifeSize Communications, the global player in high-definition video communications, plans to double the headcount at its engineering design center in Bangalore by end-2009. The facility currently has 25 engineers.

An integral part of the company's research, development and engineering operation, the Bangalore center is responsible for software development for the company's HD video conferencing and telepresence products.

"Our new and expanded engineering design center reflects the tremendous contribution the LifeSize team in India has made to our company's success, and our commitment to having the facilities to support future growth and exciting new products," said Craig Malloy, CEO, LifeSize Communications.

Established in August 2006, the center today produces the software that drives the conferencing systems, video system management software and infrastructure products.

The company proposes to invest $2 million per year and expects to double its business in India. The company has customers like ACC, Barclays, KPMG, L&T, Patni Computers, Tata Elxsi, and Wipro, among others.
