Lost Your Laptop? No Need to Worry
By CXOtoday Staff
Mumbai, Mar 11, 2008 1645 hrs IST

Unistal Systems, a provider of data care, data recovery, anti-virus, and Internet security products, has come out with a new software product, called Locate Laptop. It features the proprietary WebSniff technology, using which it claims to be able to locate stolenor lost laptops. Laptop thefts and loss are on an incessant rise and have led to serious damages for professionals and corporate. According to sources, 97% of stolen computers are never recovered and 57% of corporate crimes are linked to them. With fears of leakage of sensitive data through stolen or lost laptops omnipresent, a solution that enables one to track his/her laptop is expected to create not a little interest. Locate Laptop not only claims to track and recover stolen computers, but it also claims to deter theft. It keeps track of the whereabouts of each employee while traveling and the moment he logs in via the web, a report is generated with his complete details and is sent to a designated individual within the organization. This is done without the knowledge of the employee, so as to maintain privacy. In an event of theft or loss, they need to report to Unistal's emergency response team or login to their personal tracking and monitoring page and submit the theft/loss. This activates Locate Laptop's proprietary WebSniff technology and alerts as soon as the offender connects to the Internet. The city and IP address are informed to the user. It keeps tracking all the locations whenever the offender connects to the Internet. With the help of local law enforcement authorities users can retrieve their laptop. Locate Laptop is available at a price of Rs 3000 (US $55) per license. Related links: Unistal Opens Data Recovery Center In Mumbai
