Mistral Solutions, an embedded domain major has announced the availability of RAD-2 from Pentland Systems, a solution specifically designed for the radar, software radio and signal intelligence markets.
"The product is essentially meant for implementation of a Soft Radio, a technology implemented and used extensively in the defense industry. The same technology can also be put to use for Industrial applications that require high-speed data digitization and analysis," Ramanan JV, Product Manager, Mistral Solutions, told CXOtoday.
It offers a dual Channel, 14-bit resolution with up to 105MSPS sampling speed and 16 individual down-converter channels provided by 4GC4016 down-converters for I&Q demodulation.
Substantial FPGA resources augment the dual 105MSPS analog acquisition channels. High-bandwidth transfer over 64-bit 66MHz PCI is enabled using powerful on-board DMA engines. Support for system-level functionality such as BIT is also provided.
It also has a powerful suite of post-acquisition DSP capabilities, with a user-programmable Xilinx Virtex II FPGA for digital signal processing and A/D control along with bi-directional high-speed FIFO buffers and a comprehensive built-in-test with support for PBIT, IBIT & CBIT modes.
RAD-2 usually gets configured in systems, which could be Single Board Computers, or Digital Signal Processor based. It is available in commercial and rugged conduction-cooled environmental versions. OS drivers are available for VxWorks, Linux and Windows XP.
"Mistral has always positioned itself in Technology areas, which can be classified as a 'Niche' and strives to bring to the market, products and expertise that are un-paralleled. Pentland carries expertise in such areas as the Soft Radio. Thereby, this amalgamation ensures that market will receive nothing but the best," added Ramanan JV.
Pentland Systems is a global leader of acquisition and synthesis of analog signals. The price for a total solution including RAD-2 is approximately Euro 10K.
