Mumbai, Nov 20, 2007 1506 hrs IST

National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) has selected IFS Solutions India for its Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) project titled "Project Kiran", across all the project locations and NHPC Corporate Office. NHPC has zeroed in on IFS based on its technology and financial parameters. NHPC, with over 13,000 employees, has drawn up a massive capacity addition plan to become a 20,000 MW company by the year 2017 with total investment of around Rs.1,00,000 crores. With this task in hand, the company took the strategic business initiative of implementing ERP software system to better manage and coordinate the growth plans. This complex ERP implementation by IFS India for NHPC is will be completed within a period of 2 years. With its ERP implementation, a single database will be utilized by all in NHPC, individually and collectively to achieve its business goal. In order to effectively support ERP solution, a state of the art "Data Centre" will be developed soon. On-line business environment within the organization will enable timely and strategic decision making accessible from all the project locations which would help the hydropower major to become a power sector conglomerate. Dr. Chandan Chowdhury, CEO of IFS India, said, "IFS ERP implementation will enable NHPC to cut across departmental boundaries and adopt business practices to increase competitiveness."
