NIC to Launch 2 New Datacenters

NIC is going to launch 2 new datacenters at Pune and Hyderabad, to support the central government s e-governance initiatives.

These tier 2 and 3 class datacenters will have a storage capacity of 100 terabytes each and will have a physical server capacity of 100 racks each.

According to Dr. Neeta Verma, senior technical director of NIC, these datacenters will mainly cater to e-governance applications, passport, driving licences, websites and trade portals.


These datacenters will also serve as disaster recovery centers for NIC s state-level data centers spread across 30 states in the country, said Verma.

NIC is currently working on a number of e-governance initiatives including provision of software for implementing the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme and ICT implementation at the panchayat level, informed Neeta Verma.
