Extreme Networks will help Avaya deliver to the SMBs, a new option for building end-to-end converged IP networks, and to develop management and other technologies needed to improve market environment. The small enterprises rely on their resellers for a complete networking solution of the highest quality. To meet this requirement, Avaya and Extreme Networks will use the networks of authorized distributors and certified resellers. Avaya being a distributor of Extreme Networks' products worldwide, will now resell and market a series of versatile network edge switches in the Indian market. In addition, it also provides planning, installation, and management through its services arm. Extreme Network switches provide bandwidth management to help ensure clear, consistent IP voice calls, simple management from a central location, and integrated security and service recovery features for business continuity. The product will enable the organizations to apply the proper service levels to devices, such as laptops, IP phones, or IP cameras, enabling the network to keep up with the demands of real-time communications. The package consists of Extreme Networks Summit X250, ExtremeXOS version 12.0 with SummitStack stacking capabilities, the Summit WM200/2000 wireless LAN controller for secure, scalable support of mobile applications and continued integration of wired and wireless networks. It also includes the Universal Port Manager, a part of EPICenter, which supports the entire policy lifecycle with a powerful graphical management interface along with an Avaya IP Office. "Avaya and Extreme would work jointly to enhance the functionality, security and quality of converged networks and to simplify their deployment and management," commented K.L Naraynan, head (Convergence Business) of Avaya GlobalConnect.
