New Appointments in Citi India

Citi India's Global Consumer Group has announced new senior executive appointments. T.R. Ramachandran will head Citibank's retail banking, while Rahul Soota takes over the NBFC arm. Sandeep Soni responsibility will be new strategic initiatives for alliances and partnerships. These appointments will be effective of March 10, 2008.

T R Ramachandran, as the new head (retail bank) of Citibank N.A, India, will lead all of Citibank's retail initiatives as it branches out in semi-urban and rural areas. He will also be responsible for introducing new business models across segments and products to cater to the evolving needs of Indian customers

Ram, joined the bank in 1989, and has been one of the founding members of Citi's Global Consumer Group in India. He is regarded as one of the leading architects of the card industry in India. Ram has had experience in a wide variety of assignments and geographies in key leadership positions


Rahul Soota, former head of retail banking since November 2005, has now been appointed as managing director of Citifinancial Consumer Finance India. Soota joined the bank as a management associate in 1992.

Sandeep Soni, currently managing director of Citifinancial Consumer Finance India, moves to manage Citi's Alliances and Partnerships from a pan Consumer Bank perspective. Soni has been a founding member of Citifinancial, having joined the company in January 1998. In his new role, he will lead Citi's initiatives to expand distribution in newer domains and through newer channels.

Announcing these appointments, P.S. Jayakumar, country business manager of Global Consumer Group, Citi India said, "These senior appointments will facilitate in further advancing Citi's continuing growth in India and are in accordance with Citi's global and best-in-class talent management practices to enable growth for its senior executive talent"
