By CXOtoday Staff
Mumbai, Aug 29, 2008 1228 hrs IST

Indian oil and gas giant, ONGC has launched its eAcademy, named Gyandhara, giving employees a chance for self training, and in turn helping the company retain talent.

Gyandhara provides ONGC employees with opportunities for self development and a range of oil and gas related e-learning products. 24x7 Learning has built, implemented and is managing Gyandhara for ONGC, India. This is the first ever such HR exercise taken by ONGC for its employees.

Priti Mathur, head of ONGC Academy said, "This endeavor by ONGC will provide its employees with opportunities for self development and learning, benchmarked to global standards." This initiative brings e-learning opportunities, information and communications technology for the Indian oil and gas industry professionals.

24x7 Learning is a talent lifecycle management company based out of India. It has entered into a strategic alliance with Scotland-based Atlas Interactive Limited, an oil and gas industry eLearning content specialist, and OPITO, an oil and gas academy that also provides certifications to the industry.

24x7 Learning will provide OPITO certifications post completion of the course to all ONGC employees. The course will be available for all companies in the oil and gas vertical across India.

Karthik KS, CEO, 24x7 Learning said, "This alliance brings to the table the expertise of two international organizations excelling in their respective fields."

Tim Love, Sr. VP-GSM of Atlas Interactive said, "Aimed at addressing the skills shortages within the oil industry, the learning module from 24x7 Learning will enable both new recruits and experienced technicians to acquire approved qualifications, and it will assist employers to assess the skills and capabilities of their workforce within an accepted accreditation system. This is a brilliant initiative that we have, in partnership with 24x7 Learning and we look forward to working closely in the coming years to develop this suite of learning modules for technicians of all ages within the industry."
