Bangalore based software services company Radiant Infosystems has introduced a first of its kind road transport online booking project called AWATAR (Any Where Any Time Advanced Reservation System).
The software is meant to allow customers book tickets online to destinations across the state. They can also check arrival and departure information, cancellations and wait-listed status via mobile phones, palmtops or e-mail.
Built on IBM platform and SOA architecture, AWATAR is a Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) initiative, which was designed and developed by Radiant.
C Narayanacharyulu, Director, Radiant Infosystems said, "We look forward towards developing such effective solutions beneficial to both the state and its citizens. Now that the Government is planning to open 1000 kiosks in rural Karnataka to facilitate the service of AWATAR in the state, the people from rural and remote areas are the key beneficiaries."
Srinivasamurthy, MD, KSRTC said, "Implementing AWATAR would enable the corporation to become more efficient, accountable and transparent in its overall operations. Projects like these help strengthen our commitment on providing passengers with maximum value for their money."
H D. Kumaraswamy, Chief Minister of Karnataka was the first passenger to make an online ticket booking using AWATAR by buying a ticket from Mysore to Chennai.
