Rising pressure to streamline operations and improve efficiency levels during the current financial slowdown, stakeholders in the aviation industry all over are beginning to look at RFID as potential means for improved security measures.
The industry has already started witnessing an increasing level of RFID adoption across a myriad of areas. RFID can help to improve security against terrorist attack, safety against general hazards, error prevention and data capture, etc. It can even create new earning streams where it makes tolling feasible without causing congestion. RFID creates competitive advantages in many ways and in many locations that extend far beyond the tagging of baggage.
According to Richard Sebastian, research analyst, Electronics & Security Practice of Frost & Sullivan, "RFID in the aviation industry shows immense potential with the promise of bringing real time visibility in the enterprise. With the current turmoil due to the global financial crisis, RFID could play a big role to reduce the impact to stakeholders involved in the aviation industry."
