Lattice Bridge Infotech (LBIT), the speech recognition technology based solutions and services provider have developed 2 tools, Candidate Scan and Employee Self Service, specifically for the HR departments.
Both tools are based on the speech recognition technology platform that can be used as hosted service as well as can be deployed within the existing system of any organization. With over 3 years of research and development, presently these tools are on pilot projects, which are deployed at two ITeS companies based in Bangalore and Chennai.
Candidate Scan addresses the recruitment and selection part of the HR mangers. Here, the recruiter schedules a screening test specific to job posts. Then, the candidate eligibility criteria and screening questions are fed into the system via PC interface. Subsequently, the HR department places newspaper advertisement for the job openings with date for screening test.
Later, the candidates posts their resumes to company portal, where the tool reverts with an automated response with the details of unique user ID and password for telephone based test via an email or telephone call. Prior to sending the details, the tool undertakes a preliminary scan of resume.
With the user ID and password, the candidate dials the system, where it authenticates the caller based on the ID, password and administers the speech recognition based test. Following the end of test, the system declares the results using multi modal delivery form such as email, fax and SMS. The authentications of human proxy or fraud during the tests are handled using Speech Biometrics.
According to Mohan Ram, managing director of LBIT, "Candidate Scan is a telephone base candidate scanning system that stimulates a class room or physical examination center environment on the phone. The tool replaces the human component with a telephony based system saving time for the HR. Also, it filters thousands of applicants with very little direct intervention."
"In addition, the system logs all the phone communication, instantly computes and disseminates the results with maintaining candidate authenticity using Speech Biometrics," said Ram.
While Candidate Scan opens a new approach towards recruitment process, company's another solution; Employee Self Service helps the staffs or employees to have better access to various HR functions using a telephone interface.
This solution can be integrated with the HRMS (human resource management solutions) and offers a real time communication with the existing employee records. "The tool can be useful to any industry verticals like Manufacturing, Logistics, Transportation, Services etc., where digital data interfaces are not feasible or economical. For organizations, where the PC to employee ration is less, this unique tool offers a user friendly call flow using the intranet," said Ram.
All the employee data of organization, work related questions, details of salary, leaves, provident funds, taxations, schedules, etc., are fed into the system using the PC interface. Each employee is identified by its Employee ID number or the Provident Fund (PF) ID. With the system, the organization sets a unique telephone number that can be called by the employees for all HR related queries.
When the employee calls the telephone number, the system greets the caller and starts the authentication process by checking the caller's unique ID. Following the validation, the user is allowed access to applications and services via an automated response call.
During the call, the system records the employee's queries in the database server and then forwards it to the concerned department and officials for processing. Once the queries are approved by the department and authority, they are forwarded backed to database server. Subsequently, the system calls back the employee and informs about the outcome of the queries.
"The front end and back end of the system works using Visual Basic. We have tested the solution with SAP and Ramco's HRMS applications using the XML interface. In terms of cost, it can be charged depending on the staff number or size of employee and we are offering the solution on 'per employee per month' model," said Ram.
Both the products are designed and developed on Nuance Speech engine platform and using the Sure Identity technology as a generic tool for identification and authentication process.
