  • SMC Networks has made available two additions to its TigerStack family - the TigerStack II 1000 Stackable 10/100/1000 48-Port Managed Switch (SMC8848M) and 24-Port Stackable Managed Switch (SMC8824M).

Featuring an optional 10G uplink, the switches offer better bandwidth and port density, supporting both IPv4 and IPv6. Sporting 24 and 48 total ports respectively, the future-proofed switches include all L2/4 features.

Each switch has four combo ports for optional SX and LX SFP transceivers for fiber connectivity, and two 10GB XFP module slots for high-bandwidth connectivity to the core. They are 8-high stackable, with 384 ports of high-bandwidth connectivity per stack.

Designed to handle high-bandwidth applications (up to 176Gbps) they also have weighted fair queuing and L2/3/4 IP for smooth data transmissions. The switches support VLANs based on frame tags, ports or protocol, GVRP LAN and Multiple Spanning Tree.

Security features include RADIUS, IEEE802.1x, Secure Shell (SSH), Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), Terminal Access Controller Access Control System plus (TACACS+), and Access Control List (ACL).

Currently available through SMC, the SMC8848M costs S$7,429, while SMC8824M costs S$4,299.
