SNDT Gets Intelligent 'Campus Area Network'
By CXOtoday Staff
Mumbai, Feb 4, 2008

Dax Networks, the networking solutions provider, has deployed an intelligent 'Campus Area Network' with high-end switching, wireless, and structured cabling solution for SNDT, the first women's university in ASIA. This network has been installed in the university's Mumbai campus that has an enrollment of 75,000 students every year.

Dax has deployed DX-5749XGS at the core (L3 10/100/100 switch with 4SFP) and DX-5026MG at the edge (2 1000 TX port and 2 open slot switch) along with DX-915ABO wireless access point and Cat 6 cabling solution for this set up.

Dax's network design, effectively set up by Glodyne Technoserve, has ensured that the SNDT campus has a fully managed network resulting in better control over the huge network set-up, including fault detection and quicker convergence thus guaranteeing 99.99% network uptime. The network is scalable with the convenience of wireless for mobile users enabling them to be a part of the campus LAN and share resources.

Solution Highlights:

* Flexible two-tier network design allowing higher bandwidth management and redundancy in the network

* Gigabit backbone connectivity ensuring better throughput management between nodes connecting switches and servers

* Cat 6 cabling system ensuring future-proof infrastructure investment

Chandra Krishnamurthy, vice cChancellor of SNDT said, "Computerization in SNDT is a meaningful way of bridging the digital divide."

Speaking on the significance of this project, S S Mantha, pro vice chancellor of SNDT University said, "We constantly strive to provide our students the best facilities. With Dax's feature-rich and advanced networking solutions we will be able to enhance the quality of our educational offerings. We are also looking at deploying similar Campus Area Networks in our other campuses in Pune, Palghar, and Ahmedabad."
