  • Storage Networking Industry Association (SNIA) India has plans to expand its education initiative across the country. It'll appoint selected technical education institutes and universities as its education franchise partner.

According to industry estimates available from IDC Asia-Pacific, the disk storage systems in India are growing. Moreover, the external storage market in India is expected to hit US $ 300 million mark in terms of value and about 160,000 terabytes in terms of volume by 2010.

However, the availability of trained storage networking professionals isn't in accordance with the stupendous growth industry has witnessed in the recent past. This is a serious impediment for industry's growth in general.

Hence, with an aim to address this issue, SNIA India has made its curriculum and courses available at education centers of repute. It has prepared a detailed charter for the same, which defines certain qualifying criteria for an institute or university to be selected as its franchise partner. There are qualifying criteria for the trainers as well to ensure zero-compromise on the quality of education being imparted by the franchisee.

Within 3 years of inception, SNIA India has already trained about 23 qualified trainers under its 'Train-the-Trainer' program.
