Shoppers Stop Revamps Data Warehouse
By CXOtoday Staff
Mumbai, Oct 15, 2008 1143 hrs IST
Shoppers Stop, one of the premier retail stores in India is revamping its data warehouse applicances.
With more than 10 million customers, close to 2 million square feet of retail space and 250 brands of garments and accessories, the retail outlet was being hindered by a SQL Server system that could not adequately scale to meet the company s growing data demands.
It therefore, selected the Netezza data warehouse appliance to provide faster and more comprehensive sales data analytics for its expanding retail operations throughout India.
When it came time to purchase a faster, easier and better data warehouse solution, Shoppers Stop evaluated multiple alternatives including Netezza, and chose the Netezza data warehouse appliance for its speed and simplicity. The appliance will provide deep analytics on sales data and help Shoppers Stop better manage its loyalty card program, named First Citizen. Shoppers Stop will also use the Netezza appliance for campaign management and complex analytics on all of its data at the speed of thought.
We remain committed to building world-class retail capabilities, and a focus on business intelligence and analytics is a key component of that, said Arun Gupta, customer care associate & group chief technology officer, Shoppers Stop.
