SpiceJet Airline has deployed IBM India's customized offering for financial control, accounts and materials management process.
A low-cost carrier, SpiceJet is headquartered in Gurgaon and has 20 aircrafts in its fleet.
The SAP ERP 6.0 solution, implemented by IBM India, runs on IBM System x hardware platform with quad-core Intel Xeon processors, and utilizes SAN-based IBM system storage DS4700 technology.
"Our airline solution will enable SpiceJet to improve operational efficiencies and offer passengers a highly differentiated experience," said Sameer Batra, VP of the distribution sector (India & South Asia), IBM India.
SpiceJet earlier maintained separate systems for airline operations, inventory management, purchasing and accounting. This made it rather difficult for the airline to analyze financial data and take timely decisions, he said.
The integration of airline solution facilitates SpiceJet's financial transparency and analytics. In addition, the deployment will enable the airline to close its financial data on a reduced timeframe.
"We also offer SOA-based airport integration solutions and coordinate resource planning and operational information," said Batra. In India, IBM is working with various airports and airlines that include Greenfield airports, full-cost and low-cost carriers.
