Stellent's UCM for Oracle ECM
By CXOtoday Staff
Mumbai, Apr 30, 2007
Oracle today unveiled Universal Content Management 10g - the first of its three Fusion Middle components in the enterprise content management (ECM) space.
This is Oracle's first release in the ECM space post Stellent acquisition in December 2006.
UCM allows organizations to consolidate enterprise content and multiple web sites on a single platform and deploy synchronized multiple line-of-business applications, such as multilingual web sites, intranets and extranets, compliance processes, call center knowledge bases and brand management solutions.
Because it is built on a unified platform with a service-oriented architecture, it can be used to create composite, content-rich business applications.
"Organizations need a comprehensive enterprise content management solution to help master vast amounts of electronic, web and paper based content floating through their organizations," said Dan Ryan, senior vice president of Oracle Content Management Development.
The release includes features such as:
Microsoft Sharepoint Integration - Customers can check-in, search, browse folders and access workflow to promote content from SharePoint into the Oracle repository for effective use across multiple enterprise web sites, portals and business applications.
Flexible Content Storage - Enables organizations flexibility and granular control in determining how and where documents, executables, CAD drawings, PDF, HTML, XML, flash, audio and video files are stored and managed on the file system;
Enhanced Portal Integration - UCM includes JSR 168-compliant portals offer integration where the content is fed directly to the portal server for viewing. Enabling users to directly check-in, subscribe and route content through a portal interface. UCM is integrated with Oracle Fusion Middleware, which includes Application Server, Portal Server and WebCenter Suite; and supports BEA WebLogic Portal Server (including Plumtree Corporate Portal), IBM WebSphere Portal Server, and Sun Java Enterprise System Portal Server.
Content Conversion from any Enterprise Application - to transform native formats to PDF, TIF, HTML and XML, and convert multiple image and video formats for quick viewing and web publishing; the new content refinery is built on a service-oriented architecture, enabling customers to create custom conversion options.
Integration with Oracle Secure Enterprise Search- includes a dedicated use license for Secure Enterprise Search (SES) allowing content to be indexed and accessed using SES at no extra charge.
It may be recalled that the company had stated that it would release five upgraded versions of ECM products to integrate its own product line with that of Stellent.
