By CXOtoday Staff
Mumbai, 26 Aug 2008, 1725 hrs IST
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has opened a dedicated learning centre in Guwahati, Assam. The center will impart training to professionals in the north east.
The new TCS Learning Centre is based at the IIT campus in Guwahati. It has the capacity to train up to 200 professionals at one time and is operational. Trainees at the new TCS centre also have access to all facilities on the IIT Guwahati campus including classrooms, library as well as sports and recreational facilities.
The TCS Learning Centre is being used to conduct TCS' globally recognized Initial Learning Programme for fresh engineering graduates from the North East.
This initiative is a result of an MoU that TCS signed with IIT-Guwahati and the state government of Assam in March 2008 to set up a dedicated training facility in the state and also collaborate with IIT, Guwahati in R&D efforts based on mutual interest.
"The dedicated training centre in Guwahati will develop the abundant talent available in the north east," said S Ramadorai, CEO and MD of TCS.
"Almost 300 people have already been trained at the Guwahati centre. This initiative to further enhance the suitability of talent here will help link talent from the North East of the country to the fast-growing Indian IT industry," said Ajoy Mukherjee, vice president and head, (global HR) of TCS.
