Tandberg's Movi Now Available
By CXOtoday Staff
Mumbai, May 21, 2007 1900 hrs IST

Tandberg has announced the commercial availability of Movi, a PC videoconferencing product. This would help everyone in an organization communicate visually from anywhere. Movi is a server-based video application. Users can start with video calls by clicking on one of the three places, including a link from a meeting invite, a permanent link on a corporate intranet, and an address in the Movi directory. For this a microphone, a webcam, speakers, and a system with Internet connection are required. As a centralized network device, the release features one-touch installation, and IT departments can manage Movi centrally through the Web. "As PC-based visual communications becomes commonplace across the enterprise, the definition of 'workplace' will evolve making employees more mobile and enabling employers to better manage a geographically distributed workforce," said Fredrik Halvorsen, CEO of Tandberg. Movi is an extension of the company s end-to-end solution, the complete portfolio of visual communication solutions that include video systems, management, infrastructure, and services. Tandberg Movi is available immediately.

As an ex Balcwater operative now working in Australia in the IP Video Conferencing industry, there are some very interesting initiaitive that support what tandberg are offering - desktop, 3G VC. Very handy indeed when in the field. Who do I talk to about these fantastic initiatives?

This is surprisingly great news. If the video conference is so simple why invest lakhs os rupees on VC equipment like Cisco?
