By CXOtoday Staff
Mumbai, May 21, 2008

D-Link India, a networking solutions provider, has been selected by Tata Communications to supply wireless access points and antennas for deployment of Wi-Fi hotspots across the country.

To wirelessly enable these hotspots, Tata Communications has deployed D-Link Access Points; DWL-3200AP, DWL-2100AP & Wireless Antennas; ANT-24-0800, ANT-24-0801.

The company's hotspots include the major domestic and international airports, premium Star hotels, educational institutions, sports stadium, hospitals, chain of restaurants, and coffee shops. Creating hotspots at non-traditional locations like mobile stores, IT stores, and railway stations is also being considered by the company.

Tata Communications and D-Link have collaborated on a number of projects to date, to deploy Wi-Fi hotspots across the country.

Tata Communications currently has over 500 hotspots and is targeting to scale it up to over 1000 during the course of the year.

wi-fying is fine; however, the tomorrow belongs to wi-max. wi-fi is to a certain extent already destined for desolation. It is merely transitory. Anyway, Tatas know better !!!
