  • Telesoft Technologies HINTON Signalling Probe provides distributed monitoring of 56kb/s, 64kh/s low speed links, T1/E1 high speed links over Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM ) and M2PA SIGTRAN signaling over fast Ethernet.

Using different transmission technologies and a centrally managed network wide platform, the application vendor is able to collect SS7 singalling from geographically separate locations. These are presented to an application in a uniform manner over IP interfaces. The vendors do not need knowledge of topology or technology and can concentrate on services.

The probes are available in Peripheral Component Interconnect (PCI) besides other scalable and distributable form factors using compact PCI solutions.

Ensuring a single integration cycle with an application vendor, the probes present same management and signaling access.

T1 is high speed telephone line for digital transmission that can handle 24 voice data at 64 kilobits per second over two twisted pair wires. E1 is a digital transmission scheme that carries data at the rate of 2.048 megabits per second (Mbps). ATM is used to provide high bandwidth support for carrying real time voice, video and data. M2PA is a protocol supporting the transport of Signaling System Number 7 (SS7).

SS7 is the protocol used by the telephone companies for interoffice signalling. This method of signalling is inefficient and is rapidly being replaced by out-of-band or common-channel signalling techniques.

The probes provide web based configuration and management tools, and also Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) center integration, a press release said here today.

Keith Driver, Product Manager, Telesoft said, "Telesoft can offer OSS, VAS and Lawful interception application vendors the ability to enter any telecommunications network and provide service without worrying about the network details".
