TexTech Deploys HP AiO 600 Solution
By Bijay Shankar Patel
New Delhi, Oct 19, 2007
TexTech International is a Chennai- based e-publishing company, which provides solutions that enable publishers across the world to create, manage, re-purpose and distribute content to the end users. Its range of services includes project management, copyediting, page composition, proof reading, art creation, data entry and data conversion.
The company has deployed HP AiO 600 solution to make storage management affordable, foolproof and to achieve seamless integration across applications.
TexTech faced severe shortage of data storage space due to its growing businesses and increasing client base. As a temporary measure, the data were migrated to an external hard disk and tape. Additionally, the servers were under tremendous pressure performing tasks like file serving, mailing, supporting in-house applications - all simultaneously - and at the same time along with data storage had affected the performance levels of the existing IT Infrastructure.
The result of constant human intervention to retrieve files from tape was slowing turnaround times, resulting in missed deadlines and errors.
"In brief, the challenges were the lack of a common solution to support the diverse infrastructure and application portfolio, absence of a robust data protection plan; ad hoc, error-prone manual data backups - both posing a high level of risk to a data-dependent e-publishing business house and a system administration staff withering under pressure of stretched resources" said AVR Venkatesa, CEO, TexTech International.
To tide over the storage barriers, TexTech did not approach any vendor, except HP. Some R& D was done internally on IBM storage solution, but they found HP AiO 600 solution more affordable and cost effective. The solution gives zero downtime and redundancy and makes for a scalable solution that grows with it as their data needs become more complex.
The implementation process was started in early January 2007. It took six-weeks time, from evaluation to finally deploy the solution. The implementation process did not pose any challenges due to proper upfront planning, and the services and support from HP retailer and HP enterprises.
HP AiO 600 solution was installed in just eight clicks. There was no downtime during migration and the solution integrated seamlessly with all existing applications, MS Exchange and MS SQL. The HP AiO was scalable and also delivers tangible cost benefits. Currently, 50 remote locations are connected to the server.
The turnaround time for data retrieval improved impressively with the AiO solution. Since all key team members now have direct access to the system, they can locate and retrieve files themselves, thus freeing up the System Administrator for more productive work.
"By using the solution, the turnaround time for data retrieval has improved by almost 100% .The Company expects to achieve 30-35% cost savings in the next five years from HP AiO deployment." Venkatesa further added.
It has received ROI from day one and the cost of maintaining hardware has significantly reduced. Backup is now automated and TexTech has an effective data protection plan in place, to guard and protect their most valuable data.
TexTech relies heavily on IT for efficiency. It focuses firmly to enhance customer service levels and to achieve rapid growth with three-fold increase in revenues by 2010. It eyes to garner a major chunk of the global e-publishing and the publishing outsourcing industry which is pegged at USD 8.2 billion.
