VMware Lays Stress on Data Center Automation
By CXOtoday Staff
Mumbai, May 13, 2008
Automation of both IT processes and technology tasks can help enterprises to save more costs. It can also streamline processes and ensure IT departments extricate themselves from the tactical, rote tasks and focus where they can have a real strategic impact.
It seems virtualization solutions provider, VMware, has realized the importance of tools for automating IT service delivery. IT has recently come out with 2 new automation and management product bundles for the data center -- the VMware IT Service Delivery Bundle and the VMware Management and Automation Bundle.
The company claims its new portfolio of management and automation products leverage virtual machines to automate the steps of the IT service delivery and business continuity processes, eliminating repetitive tasks and minimizing risk.
VMware IT Service Delivery Bundle includes VMware Lifecycle Manager and either VMware Lab Manager or VMware Stage Manager. These products use virtualization to provide a cost effective way to manage the entire software lifecycle.
The new bundle will help application developers, testers, and IT administrators to manage virtual machine sprawl, build and deploy new environments, and deploy new services with minimal risk, and the ability to specify and automate the rules around these processes.
VMware Management and Automation Bundle addresses both IT service delivery and business continuity. It includes VMware Lifecycle Manager, VMware Lab Manager, VMware Stage Manager, plus the disaster recovery product VMware Site Recovery Manager.
The IT Service Delivery Bundle is priced at US $2,995 per 2 processors. The Management and Automation Bundle is priced at US $3,995 per 2 processors. The products and bundles will be available starting May 19. The products are also available separately.
