The upcoming general elections for 15th Lok Sabha will prove to be an enabling exercise for both the voters and the political parties and their aspirants with information technology forming the cornerstone of the campaign.
The new Google India Election Centre will provide voters with information about their Member of Parliament and the development status of their constituencies as well as this year's candidates.
Apart from access to relevant election-related news, blogs, videos, and quotations, voters can also use the Google India Election Centre to confirm their voter registration status, know their polling location, and view their constituency on a map. The information will be available in English and Hindi.
During the election, Google said it will add more features to the centre.
Google's partners in this initiative comprise the Association for Democratic Reforms, HT Media Limited, Indicus Analytics, the Janaagraha Centre for Citizenship and Democracy, the Liberty Institute, and PRS Legislative Services.
With the launch of the India Election Centre, Google expects to have a positive impact on the voting patterns during the polls.
