Wipro Uses Surgient's Virtual Lab Applications
By Bijay Shankar Patel
Delhi, Sep 12, 2007
Wipro Technologies, the global IT services arm of Wipro, has signed a strategic system integration agreement with Texas-based Surgient, to accelerate software delivery and provide organizations with software testing solutions.
The agreement with Surgient and integrating Surgient's Virtual QA/Test Lab Management System (VQMS) will enable Wipro to combine Surgient's offering with its own experience on HP Quality center and related 3rd tools. It would seamlessly add virtual lab automation into the software development lifecycle.
HP Software is a key strategic alliance partner for Wipro Testing Services, and HP Quality Center is already integrated with Surgient VQMS. The cost benefit of virtual test lab management is evident, since it drastically reduces the cost of setting up test environments and managing them. Wipro can offer this as a joint solution with Surgient, bringing to the table Surgient's product expertise, Wipro's delivery expertise, and experience in creating and managing test environments.
Using Surgient's virtual lab management applications to automate
the provisioning and testing of software applications will enable Wipro's users to more quickly deploy new enterprise applications.
With new technologies like SOA and Web services emerging, the application complexity and interdependency is increasing leading to more complicated test environments. This alliance will help decrease the cost of setting up these complicated environments.
The companies have also agreed to organize joint go-to-market activities. This would provide their users the virtual lab services to test software applications and software patches before they're rolled out across the physical enterprise. The joint offerings that are created out of this engagement will be addressing some key pain areas in testing domain for their users.
"Today's organizations demand more powerful, customizable, and multi-functional enterprise software solutions that can be rolled out quickly and within budget," said C. P. Gangadharaiah, senior vice president and worldwide head (Testing Services Division) of Wipro Technologies.
"As the largest 3rd party independent software testing services provider, we're constantly looking for new technologies that will help us meet the software testing needs of our users. Using Surgient's virtual lab management applications to automate the provisioning and testing of software applications will enable our users to more quickly deploy new enterprise applications."
"By this agreement, Wipro can now combine Surgient's offering with its own experience with 3rd party automation tools to seamlessly add virtual lab automation into the software development lifecycle," said Tim Lucas, president and CEO of Surgient. "Wipro can provide its users virtual lab services to test software applications and software patches before they're rolled out across the physical enterprise."
Wipro is globally the largest 3rd party independent offshore testing services provider. Testing services contributed 11% to the revenue of Wipro Technologies in the last financial year. It has more than 6500 highly skilled independent testers in 3rd party automation tools.
